What is special about the tortoises of Kalyan Sagar?+
Kalyan Sagar is home to the critically endangered black softshell tortoise (Nilssonia nigricans). These tortoises have lived in the lake for centuries, fed by pilgrims. They are extremely friendly and often swim to the ghats to receive food, but feeding them artificial food is now restricted to protect their health.
What are the timings of the Tripura Sundari Temple?+
The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The morning puja is performed around 8:00 AM, and the evening Aarati takes place at sunset. The temple is especially crowded during Amavasya (New Moon) days and the annual Diwali festival.
How far is Udaipur from Neermahal?+
Udaipur is about 25 km from Melaghar (where Neermahal is located). The drive takes around 40 minutes via the Udaipur-Melaghar road, making it very easy to combine a trip to Matabari with a visit to the Neermahal Water Palace.
