When does the Chadar Trek take place?
The Chadar Trek operates exclusively during the deep winter months, from approximately January 10 to February 15, when ice conditions are thickest and most stable.

How cold does it get on the Chadar Trek?
Daytime temperatures inside the shadowed gorge range between -10°C and -15°C, while nighttime temperatures routinely plummet to -25°C to -35°C.
Can I do the Chadar Trek without a guide?
No. Solo trekking on the Chadar is strictly illegal and life-threatening. You must be accompanied by experienced native Zanskari ice guides who understand the shifting sounds, cracks, and safety of the ice sheet.
